Are you an excellent writer who is familiar with technology and interested in innovation? The USPS OIG is seeking students enrolled in college/university programs to fill our Student Cooperative - (Paid) position in in San Francisco, CA.  The selected candidate will work for the OIG's research group, the Risk Analysis Research Center (RARC).  RARC conducts research on economic, business, and policy issues related to the U.S. Postal Service. RARC's staff includes experts in economics, business research, and data analysis.  We are looking for a proactive student, capable of working independently, to provide a wide range of a support to RARC's Global, Digital, and Innovation team. The Student Cooperative Program is available for continuous employment throughout the year, while enrolled in school.”

The employee performs specialized administrative duties with continuing responsibility for projects, questions, or problems that arise in the area of assignment/curriculum.  Each assignment typically consists of a series of related actions or decisions prior to final completion. Duties include:

  • Research new technologies, digital innovations, and emerging business models relevant to the Postal Service.
  • Engage in outreach to innovative organizations, including setting up interviews and site visits;
  • Write and edit research papers, short articles, the team's bimonthly newsletter, and analytical documents for both internal and external audiences.
  • Create graphics and videos to support research projects.
  • Help organize workshops and roundtables; and 
  • Provide basic office assistance.

 

This position is being advertised at the Administrative Band level. The salary range for this position is below:

$17.65 per hour - Sophomores, including locality pay

$20.36 per hour - Juniors and Seniors, including locality pay

$23.08 per hour - Graduate Students and Law Students, including locality pay

 

Desired qualifications:

  • Background in journalism, English, communications, public speaking, political science, public policy, market research, or technology and innovation.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in drafting and editing a variety of written products such as white papers, reports, newsletter, blogs, and brief articles.
  • Knowledge of data, business, and market analysis.
  • Experience conducting business, policy, or other research.
  • Familiarity with the organization of meetings and events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience in creating presentations and other visual communication material.
