Biography: 

Jesse Nathan's poems appear in the New York Review of Books, the Paris ReviewThe Nation, the Kenyon ReviewBOMB, and elsewhere. His first collection, Eggtooth, was acquired by Peter Campion for Unbound Edition Press, and published in September 2023 with a foreword by Robert Hass. The book won the 2024 New Writers Award in Poetry, and was a finalist for the Golden Poppy, the Nossrat Yassini Poetry Prize, and the Medal Provocateur/Eric Hoffer Award. Nathan's criticism been published in the Threepenny Review and Tin House, and he contributes essays to the New York Times. His critical essay "Question, Answer" was published in the anthology After Identity (Penn State University Press, 2016), which Felipe Hinojosa called "an important book for anyone interested in the debates around culture, identity, and writing in the United States and Canada." His translations from the Popol Vuh, made with Juan Coy and Josué Coy Dick, have been published in Poetry, and featured on the magazine's podcast, in which the translators were interviewed by Srikanth Reddy. Nathan was a founding editor of the McSweeney's Poetry Series. His series of interviews withand essays aboutcontemporary poets appeared in the online series "Short Conversations with Poets," published by McSweeney's. Nathan is at work on a book of critical prose about form and disjunction in modern poetry.
